ART INSTALLATION @ MAS/LAMELLa gallery

Part of CMD’s ongoing exploration of architectural elements as public art, this meditation on a curtain wall considers the nature of a repeating element not based on a square, and the play between mass customization versus mass production. Fourteen hexagon variations form the basis of the work. When randomly shuffled and distributed across a field by an algorithm, the hexagon becomes indiscernible amidst a seemingly organic pattern. The CNC-cut recycled polyester panels are held in place by a custom 3D printed connector and lit by linear LED arrays that mimic the diurnal shift from cool to warm light.
